With
each new baby I strive for more realism than ever before, when I first
started making reborn babies, we used to simply blush them and apply a
wig, but over the past 5 years this Art form has taken on the most amazing
changes, and has evolved immensely.
5 years ago it was a
simple concept of transforming a play doll into something a little more
realistic, but with new techniques and the drive or more and more
realistic babies, when executed properly these babies are pure works of
Art!
My babies are
painted for PEOPLE NOT PHOTOGRAPHS
I can never stress
enough when I am teaching that these babies really need to be painted for
people and not for photographs, I know this may sound a little
crazy, but it is a good rule to abide to, there is a huge difference
between painting a baby that will look fantastic in a photograph to
painting one who will look amazing in person. The way the paint is
absorbed into the vinyl is really important, it should never be sitting on
the surface of the vinyl, the paint should sink into the vinyl leaving a
flawless and very translucent look to the skin. Each of my Reborn babies
is hand painted using the finest Artist brushes, I know many Artists use
sponges, but for me, the detail you achieve using brushes can not be
beaten.
