Baby Jake is a TRUE OOAK (One of A Kind)

I have hand sculpted Jake using Living Doll Polymer CLAY! He is sculpted over a strong aluminium foil armature. I worked closely from photographs of a premature baby, and have sculpted him to SCALE of a 32 week Gestation baby.  As this baby is hand sculpted, there will NEVER be another one like him, I have not used any moulds whilst creating Jake, and I have not taken any moulds of any part of this sculpture, so he will always be unique!

Jake was sculpted in June 2011 but this is the first time he has been offered for adoption.

Baby Jake is a scale 32 week Preemie, sculpted from scale from medical charts, and real baby pictures, this precious baby will capture the hearts of anyone who appreciates the fragility of an early baby.  Arriving in the word eight weeks early, Jake has all the characteristics of a real live preemie baby.

For those new to Reborns and OOAK's or my Precious~Dreams babies, I am a long standing Artist within the world of Reborn and OOAK Babies, I have been offering my babies for adoption since 2003. I am a tutor for Simply Reborn online classes and I also teach live on a regular basis.  I am lucky to have over 20 of my babies displayed in a doll museum in the Czech Republic and they have now dedicated a section solely for my OOAK and Reborn babies.

I have been lucky enough to judge many Reborn and OOAK competition over the years, including IDEX, Colliii and DD Awards, and have been featured in many magazine and news paper articles, including having 2 front cover babies for Discover Dolls magazine.

Baby Jake really does look like a real preemie baby, he is so sweet and very realistic.  I have given Jake the most beautiful soft preemie complexion.  You can not help, but look at this sweet baby and think he really is real! 

Jake's skin is painted in such micro thin layers of paint. The technique I use allows the paint to be applied in a translucent finish, I then cure it to give such an authentic look and feel to the skin. Jake has a multitude of baby blemishes, milk spots and the tiniest capillaries.

I have taken some really close photographic shots of Jake, you would not see this close with the naked eye, but I wanted you to see the beautiful detail in this baby's skin! Jake's lips have been realistically coloured and then sealed with a satin varnish for durability. I have NOT used any texture on this baby, so his skin still feels soft and smooth to the touch.

The methods I use for sculpting mean that this babies skin is amazingly soft! I have shown some extremely close shots of the detail in this sculpture, no crease wrinkle or roll has been rushed, the detail in the photograph really does speak for itself.

Jake has beautiful painted hair, I have always painted my OOAK preemie sculpts and always loved the effect and illusion of very fine down like hair. Each strand of hair is individually painted to give a real sense of depth. He has a beautiful swirled crown and the finest down like hairs around her forehead.

I know painted hair is not to everyone’s taste, but it really does have to be seen to appreciate the realism it portraits.  Jake has the softest baby brown hair and beautifully painted eyebrows to frame his amazing eyes.

Jake has a German made doe suede body, he has cotter pin jointed shoulders and hips which make posing him just so easy, there are NO cable ties used on this baby, he has cord ties which are kinder to the clay.   He is filled with a combination of glass beads and faux fleece.
